Adding a Favicon to Your Blog & Website
Favicons, or favorite icons, are a tiny part of your website that can be customized. A favicon is the image to the left of your web address in the browser. Above, you can see the favicons to my website, Twitter, Facebook, and Blogger. Tiny in size (literally they are only 16 x 16 pixels) but powerful to your brand, they are a small addition that makes a statement in a sea of other blogs and websites.
My awesome web designer, Sarah, installed a favicon on my website, however since I updated my logo early this year, I needed an updated favicon. I learned to update it myself and, voilĂ ! we were all set.
My blog was another story...
Since all of my blogs are hosted by Blogger, I never took the time to figure out if it was even possible to add my favicon. The standard orange "B" favicon (above, right) did not seem to bother me until I learned I could change it. One Google search later, and I was installing the favicon on the Pearls Events blog to match the one on the website. You'll also notice I updated the favicon on this blog to match the header.
I know, I know - it's a tiny detail and nothing to fret over, but it's another small detail that helps build brand identity.

Not small! SO EXCITED TO DO THIS. I've always wanted to... thank you thank you thank you for the information! Now, to make a logo small enough... :)
Look at you go! Great job, and definitely a detail worth the time.
Very cool post! One additional bit that may be helpful to some (as it was for me) ...
If you're still having troubles, be sure to remove the <$BlogMetaData$> tag from your template in blogger. That tag adds details that include the favicon details from blogger.
After removing that, my favicon showed up.
Thanks for sharing that info, Ron!
